Dear ***
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada under the federal skilled worker class. Please note that in order to determine your application, you are required to attend an interview at the Visa Office of the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong.
Only you, the principal applicant, are required to attend the interview.
Date: 2 January 2014 Time: 11:00 AM
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1. You must attend the interview as scheduled because it will not be deferred by this office except in limited extenuating circumstances supported by credible objective evidence. This means that failure to attend the scheduled interview will result in the application being assessed based on the documentary evidence on file. Such an assessment will likely result in the refusal of the application because the applicant will have failed to permit a visa officer to examine the applicant in person against the documentary evidence on the application.
2. You must be prepared at interview to demonstrate that you comply with the selection criteria applicable to the FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER class; you must be able to demonstrate at interview that you will be able to become economically established in Canada. You are therefore required to bring with you all additional documentation that supports the education and work histories declared on your application form, as well as any abilities in either of Canada’s official languages. You will not be granted any additional time after the interview to present fresh documentary evidence.
3. On the date of the interview, you are to report to 9/F, 25 Westlands Road, Quarry Bay Hong Kong. You must hold a copy of this letter. Present this letter to the security guard, who will give you a ticket; you may also be asked to present this letter and your ticket to a receptionist. When your ticket number is called, you will be asked to present this letter along with your passport to the visa officer conducting the interview to demonstrate your identity.
INTERPRETER SERVICES COMPANIES
Further to our interview convocation letter, we wish to confirm with you that the personal interview will be conducted in English or French (depending on your language preference).
If you require an interpreter in any other dialect or language – including Mandarin and Cantonese – it is your responsibility to arrange for a competent, professional and impartial interpreter to be present for the interview in order to provide consecutive interpretation from your language or dialect directly to English or French.
If you do not appear with an interpreter who can provide interpretation services from your language or dialect directly to English or French, the interview will not take place. Your application may then be assessed based on the information on file, and this may result in a refusal.
It is your responsibility to make arrangements with the interpreter for payment for his/her services. For example, here is a suggested list of interpreter services companies which can be found in the Hong Kong Yellow Pages telephone directory:
Language Line Limited
Tel: 2511 2677; Fax: 2511 2915; Email: langline@hk.super.net
Perfect Translation Company Limited
Tel: 2831 9006; Fax: 2125 4978; Email: perfect@hkperfect.com.hk
Paragon Language Consultancy Co.
Tel: 2764 0987; Fax: 2330 9326; Email: PARAGONL@netvigator.com
If you choose an interpreter that is not affiliated with these companies your interpreter must meet the following criteria; 1) Professional interpreter, 2) Resident of Hong Kong, 3) Member in good standing of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (UK), which is the recognized credential in Hong Kong.
Please note that these companies provide only interpretation services. They should not be contacted for any information concerning your immigrant file in the Consulate. You should send your written enquiries for file status to the Canadian Consulate General in Hong Kong by fax at (852) 2847-7493.
